Kliczków Castle
The history of the castle dates back to the end of the 13th century. At the end of the 14th century it became the seat of the von Rechenberg family, then it became the property of the following families: von Schellendorf (1631), von Frankenberg (1703), von Promnitz (1747) and Solmst-Baruth (1767). The medieval settlement was rebuilt at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries in the spirit of the late-Renaissance. At the beginning of the 19th century, a neo-Gothic tower and a new riding arena were added to the complex. The last reconstruction of the castle in 1881-1883, conducted according to the design of Berlin architects – H. Kayser and K. von Großheim – gave the building a neo-Renaissance character. The castle is surrounded by an 80-hectare park in the English style, designed by E. Petzold, and there we can find an ancestral mausoleum and a cemetery for the Prince’s favourite horses. Currently, Kliczków Castle is a well-known conference and recreation centre, which is a perfect place for active and healthy recreation. The building also has conference rooms and a well-equipped SPA centre with a swimming pool.
